REQUIRED TRAININGS

All volunteers in Girl Scouts of Western Ohio are required to complete two trainings for the position accepted within six months of appointment.

The two required trainings are:

• Girl Scout FUNdamentals - may be completed as home studies, or taken as an on-line training
• Job training for the position (i.e. age-level training for a leader or service unit manager training for a service unit manager, etc.) - age level trainings may be taken as home study.

TYPES OF TRAINING

CLASSROOM

This traditional style of training is led by volunteer council trainers at various locations throughout the council's geographic area.  The benefits to this type of training include being able to discuss the content with other leaders and get expert feedback from the trainers. 

Courses offered through this method:  All trainings are offered through this method.

ON-LINE TRAINING

On-line training is a self-paced PowerPoint slide show complete with sound that walks you through the training.  In order to view this training, you must have PowerPoint installed on your computer.  If you do not have PowerPoint, you may download PowerPoint Viewer in order to view the presentation.

HOME STUDY COURSES

Home study courses are written training manuals that are in .pdf format.  You will need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer in order to download these documents.  Once you have completed reading through the material you may complete the home study exam and registration form and the course evaluation on-line, or submit them via the mail. 

Courses offered through this method:  Girl Scout FUNdamentals and all age-level trainings.
