Girl Scouting: For Every Girl, Everywhere
Are you a girl who's interested in learning a sport, sampling
the arts, preparing for a career or pitching a tent? In
Girl Scouting, you can do it all in a safe environment!
It's never too late to join in the fun.
Any girl between the ages of 5 and 17 may become a member of
the Girl Scouts. She must accept the Girl Scout Promise
and Law. Although all girls are known as Girl Scouts,
there are actually five age-specific program levels:
Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors.
Cost of Membership
- Girl Scouting is meant to be a low cost program where
girls earn their own way. Parents are asked to make a
contribution to the council through Family Partnership.
- Membership in Girl Scouting costs $10.00 a year.
That money goes to Girl Scouts of the USA for program
development, insurance, and other services provided by the
national organization. Girl Scouts of Western Ohio has financial assistance available for girls who
need help to defray the cost of membership.
- Each family may support the troop by donating
refreshments for a meeting.
- Generally, additional costs cover individual or troop
field trips, special events, and overnights. Troops
can finance these activities through budgeting their product
sale money or by running additional approved money-earning
events.

Would you like to become a Girl Scout?
If you are a girl under the age of 18 years old, wanting to
become a Girl Scout, you will need to involve your
parent/guardian. Due to child safety laws*, Girl Scouts,
5-17 years old, cannot register - a parent or guardian must
complete the information on the Girl Scout Interest Form and
give permission to join.
Once your
Girl
Scout Interest Form is received, it will be forwarded to a
volunteer in your area. Please allow 7-10 days for review.
*The Girl Scouts' primary concern is always
the health and safety of the girls we serve. While the
Internet is a primary informational resource for girls, we
realize the the Web is a wide-open medium that can attract more
than our audience. To ensure that girls are safe when
conducting activities on the Internet, Girl Scouts of Western
Ohio and Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. has established
policies, standards, and guidelines for both councils and girls. |
