How the Program Works:

The Girl Scout Cookie Share project is an amazing opportunity for troops to choose a charity that means something to them and pass on Girl Scout Cookies to that charity.  As girls sell cookies, they can offer customers the opportunity to purchase boxes to donate to the Cookie Share project.  The girls’ efforts from last year’s Cookie Share project were felt all over the world.  Girl Scout Cookies were sent to US soldiers overseas, those along the Gulf Coast affected by Hurricane Katrina, and charity groups right here in our community.  As an incentive to girls to use the cookie sale for this type of outreach, every girl that sells 12 or more boxes for their troop’s chosen charity will receive a special Cookie Share patch to commemorate her efforts.

Before the cookie sale, each troop decides which charitable organization(s), in their community, they would like to visit and deliver packages of Girl Scout Cookies donated by their customers. (Senior centers, women’s shelters, Red Cross, etc..)

A “Cookie Share” card is then attached to the front of the cookie order card showing customers the name of the organization(s) the troop will be giving the cookies to.

While order taking, each girl will ask her customers if they would like to purchase an additional package of cookies as a gift for your troop’s chosen charity. She will explain that this is a Girl Scout community service project and show her “Cookie Share” card.

Helpful Hints:

• The blank column on the girl order card is perfect for recording Cookie Share boxes your customer buys.
• Each troop should add the number of Cookie Share boxes sold and convert it into their choice varieties. The customer does not select the variety of cookies. The troop can then use the cookies they have after rounding up the initial order to the nearest case.
• Each girl will collect the money for customer orders and Cookie Share cookies when delivering to customers.
• Each troop will then deliver the Cookie Share cookies to their chosen charity.
